Network Security | Security Design
InterLAN Consulting will design security solutions to address gaps in organization’s security posture, helping to bring the security environment to a level matching the security needs of a specific organization.
We will also design security solutions to deliver new capabilities to the organization to improve business productivity and efficiency. While it’s a know fact that Internet-based Virtual Private Networks are faster and cheaper then leased lines and Frame Relay, the perception is that private WAN facilities are more secure. The fact is that without the level of encryption implemented with Virtual Private Networks, private WAN facilities are exposed to wiretapping and other attacks.
We can design security solutions to address all aspects of security requirements:
• Deploy exterior perimeter and/or departmental Firewalls • Deploy Intrusion Detection and Protection systems • Deploy Virtual Private Networks to address remote worker access • Deploy Virtual Private Networks to replace leased lines and Frame Relay WAN facilities with faster, cheaper and more secure Internet connections • Deploy VPNs for Extranet connections between different companies and with different VPN platforms
Unfortunately, no form of security is 100% effective. Even the best designed and configured networks and systems inherently have areas which represent potential security concerns. While the addition of security devices such as firewalls, authentication tokens, intrusion detection systems, virus scanning and internal access controls provide methods to build security into your network, they are only effective if implemented correctly.
Most security breaches come from inside an organization's network, because the internal network often does not have as stringent a security policy as external connections. The key to securing a network is not only the addition of tools and utilities, but also providing broad awareness training and implementing stringent security policies. Some common policies that InterLAN can help develop are:
• Corporate Security and Acceptable Use Policies (AUP) • Corporate security incident response procedures • Corporate awareness training
eCommerce and other sensitive Internet-facing environments require a layered security approach, with multiple security zones. We have the experience to define the traffic requirements between the various systems and security zones, and create granular firewall policies.
In many cases we will include an RFP process as part of the network design phase, helping us identify the best technology for the solution at the lowest possible price.
Since we usually implement and support what we design, we always make sure that our designs are not only viable on paper, but are also feasible to implement and support.
